What is an approval?

An approval to test is issued by your state/provincial board after you apply for licensure. Once this approval is sent to ASWB by the board, you can register and pay for the examination. You can find your board contact information here.

I have not been approved to take an ASWB examination.

Please follow up with your board and have them submit your approval to ASWB so that you can register. You can find your board contact information here.

My name is incorrect on my board approval.

You will need to contact the board and request them to send a name correction to ASWB. You can find your board contact information here. Once we have the name correction, you will be able to register. As a reminder: Please wait until the name correction has been sent to ASWB before you register for the examination. It can take 24-48 additional business hours for the approval to reach our online system.

I have not gotten notification from my board that I am approved to test. Can I register?

No, you cannot register until ASWB receives the approval from your board. Please check back with your board. You can find your board contact information here.

I am not able to complete the registration online.

I registered but have not received my Authorization to Test email yet.

I need to confirm my test date and time.

I have a middle name listed on my ID but it is not on my Authorization to Test email. What should I do?

Middle names are not verified at the test center. The first and last names on both IDs must match the name on the Authorization to Test from ASWB. You can find more information in the ASWB Exam Guidebook.

I just tested and want to re-register for the examination.

If you tested recently, please keep in mind that it takes up to two weeks for ASWB to receive your scores from PSI. If you are looking to re-register for your next exam, you will need to wait until your scores are received to check back with ASWB about next steps.
